Ask me anythingArchive

veelvet asked: i was thinking about your answear to my question. and i thought, isnt it the same situation with plants? they are grown only to become a meal themselves. and, what is worse, on plantations work people and mostly they arent treated well. so how it is? i know, you would probably say that plants dont feel anything. but arent they created to live free? so? for ages people were hunting for animals, eating meat - it was necessary to live. and the other question, isnt being veganharmful to our health?

Haha oh gosh..

Plants don’t have a brain or a central nervous system. If you’re supposed to feel bad for eating plants you should also feel bad for stepping on the pavement because of the pebbles, opening a door because of the handle etc. It would be the exact same thing, and just as stupid.

The question about guilt for workers is more justified though. Yes, it isn’t a good thing, but one person can’t do everything right (who said that I’m into saving the world by the way?). Hopefully someone else with my kind of passion is putting their energy into human rights the way that I put mine into animal rights. Also, if I would have eaten animal products the workers would have still been suffering for it. They grow the food that’s shipped to the farms and then eaten by the animals. So that’s a double wrong. I’ve just decided to eat the energy source directly instead of wasting it on a cow first, cutting away one big problem.

No, a vegan diet isn’t harmful. You access all the nutrients that you need if you eat well (and, from my point of view, vegans are the people that are most consistant at eating well because of their respect and understanding of a living creature, themselves just as well as others). I take extra B12 just because it’s the only nutrient that’s slightly trickier to keep stable as a vegan. My body is probably healthier and more alert than it’s ever been since I started a 100% vegan diet.

So, all in all, if you know anything about veganism and accept the fact that one person doesn’t have to do all the work you can be a very peaceful, healthy, happy vegan.
